Consulting projects

IO Rodeo works with scientists to develop custom-made open source hardware and software. Our consulting services include the integration of existing open source components into larger instruments, modification of these components to suit different purposes, and the development of new components for entirely new purposes. In all cases the newly developed software and hardware, integration methods and modifications become part of the toolkit we offer.

To further encourage open source projects, we have a lower consulting rate for qualifying projects.

Basic Image Acquisition Software (BIAS) Basic Image Acquisition Software (BIAS)

Cross platform image acquisition software for behavioral biology. Supports multiple cameras and provides a Qt based GUI. Supported backends include FlyCapture2 and libdc1394.

This project involves the development of a captive trajectory/inertial sled system and unified control software for the Caltech 40m water tunnel.

This project was performed for the laboratory of John Dabiri at the California Institute of Technology.

 

Robofly force/moment feedback

This project consisted of modifying the hard real-time software component of the Robofly system software to enable closed loop force/moment feedback around the pitch axis and forward traverse.

This project was originally performed for the laboratory of Michael Dickinson at the California Institute of Technology.

Motor controlled disk stimulus

The goal of this project is to design and construct a motor controlled mechanism which moves a physical disk along a controlled straight line trajectory in order to produce a visual stimulus.

This project was performed for the laboratory of Gwyneth Card at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Farm Research Campus.
